Mrs. Cushing’s class wrapped up reading this week with lots of fun. They read a story called The Big Wave. This story is about a boy who loses his family in a tsunami. This boy’s friend’s family took him in. The students learn many things through this experience. They read another book called Saduko and the Thousand Paper Cranes. This was a touching true story about a girl who was effected by the bomb the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima in an attempt to end World War 2. It was a great story about survival. Another activity they did was made paper cranes in honor of the story. They had lots of fun. Mrs. Cushing’s class goal is to make 1,000 paper cranes before the end of the year!!! I interviewed Andrea S. and Grace C. from Mrs. Cushing’s class and their favorite part about The Big Wave was at the end of the story when the boy talks to his dad.
They have made 32 paper cranes so far.
